A
- AfCFTA
- The African Continental Free Trade Area, an agreement to make trade between African countries easier.
- Aggregation
- Combining produce from many farms into larger batches that buyers can order.
B
- B-Score
- AfriChill's quality grade for a batch.
- Batch
- A quantity of one kind of produce that is handled, stored and recorded together.
C
- Certificate of origin
- A document that states where produce was grown.
- Chain of custody
- The record of who handled a batch, where and when, from farm to delivery.
- Cold chain
- An unbroken run of cold storage and cold transport that keeps produce at the right temperature from harvest to buyer.
- Commercial invoice
- The seller's bill for a shipment, used by customs to value and clear the goods.

- Digital Product Passport
- AfriChill's digital record of a batch: origin, handling, temperature history and quality checks.
- Distress sale
- Selling produce quickly at a low price because it will spoil if held.
E
- EUDR
- The European Union Deforestation Regulation. It covers specific products, including cocoa, coffee, palm oil, soy, rubber, cattle and wood, so check whether yours is covered before shipping to the EU.
- Export Compliance Pack
- AfriChill's set of documents and checks for one product and one destination.

- Farm gate
- The point where produce leaves the farm; the farm-gate price is what the farmer is paid there.
- Freight forwarder
- A company that arranges transport and paperwork for shipments.

- Lease to own
- A way to use equipment while paying for it in instalments and own it at the end.

- NAFDAC
- The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, Nigeria's food and drug regulator.
- NAQS
- The Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service, which issues plant-health certificates for exports.
- NEPC
- The Nigerian Export Promotion Council, which promotes and supports non-oil exports.

- Packing list
- A document listing what is in each box or crate of a shipment.
- Phytosanitary certificate
- A plant-health certificate, issued by the exporting country's authority, confirming produce meets the importing country's plant-health rules.
- Post-harvest loss
- Food lost between harvest and sale, through spoilage, damage or going unsold.
- Pre-cooling
- Quickly removing heat from produce after harvest to slow spoilage.
Q
- QSR
- Quick-service restaurant, such as a fast-food chain.
R
- Reefer
- A refrigerated truck or container.
S
- Sensors (IoT)
- Devices that record temperature or location and send the readings automatically.
- Settlement
- Paying the seller after a sale is confirmed, once costs are taken off.
- Shelf life
- How long produce stays fit to sell under set conditions.
- Smart Markets
- AfriChill's marketplace for graded, verified produce.
- SON
- The Standards Organisation of Nigeria, which sets and checks product standards.

- Traceability
- The ability to follow produce back to where it came from and forward to who received it.
